I decided to begin this blog with the beginning of the year. It is very appropriate as December 31 is not only New Years Eve but also my birthday. However, this year a new event has been added to this date. After 8 1/2 years together, Pepi and I got married. Our good friends Mark and Sherry Herington were in town from Kentucky for their annual ski vacation and consented to be our witnesses. Just two nights before we had stayed the night with them in their rented house in Truckee, Ca.
Shortly after we had all gone to bed, the smoke alarm went off and we discovered the water heater was on fire in the garage. Luckily no one was hurt but now there was no hot water. The next evening after skiing at NorthStar, we all went to Reno and stayed at our house.
We began the New Year/Birthday/Wedding festivities around 6 pm with a bottle of champaigne (to bolster Pepi's courage).

Next we went to the Chapel of Bells for a short but very sweet ceremony.

We proceeded to Macaroni Grill for dinner and of course another bottle of champaigne (courtesy of Mark).
Birthday/Wedding cake was presented by a young girl who sang to me in Italian. She was quite good (and so was the cake). Then on to the Grand Sierra Resort for country dancing with all our country friends and to see the New Year in.
Without a doubt this was the BEST December 31 of my life.
